Prime Requisites: | STR 16, | DEX 16 |
Role:
Often act as guards or religious backup. Cloak fighters carry very few weapons and
items because their weighted cloak can be spun to act as a weapon. At higher levels,
the more skilled cloak fighter can twist his cloak to inflict cuts or bludgeoning
type wounds.
Secondary Skills:
Any appropriate for a paladin.
Weapon Proficiencies:
2 weapons of short sword length and required cloak specialist.
Nonweapon Proficiencies:
Bonus: Dancing, Tailor
Recommended: Blind-fighting, Endurance, Religion, Weaving.
Equipment:
Special weighted cloak is required as a weapon. Any armor worn must be 30 pounds or
less to effectively use his cloak as a weapon. Armor worn will nullify an cloack AC
benefits. The cloak may be enchanted at a later point in the character's career.
Special Benefits:
The cloak provides an AC8 initially. That improves +1 every odd level until AC0 is
reached. The cloak can be spun and deal 1d4 damage +1d4 every even level until 4d4 is
reached. The cloak hem can be twisted in mid-combat to either be blunt or slashing
damage.
Special Hindrances:
Cloak Fighters are at a disadvantage in confined spaces. If the available space is
insufficient for the Cloak Fighter to dance and spin their cloak in combat, they must
switch to a more conventional weapon. This hindrance is reduced at 10th level. After
10th, the cloak can be used in tight spaces, but with a -2 on all "To Hit" rolls.
Distinctive appearance:
Very minimalist attire.
Wealth Options:
A Cloak Fighter starts with 3d6 x 20 for starting wealth and must spend every
bit except for that which would be needed to survive on a modest living. The specialist
cloak is gained upon graduation, which provides offensive & defensive abilities. Other
monies are only required for other necessities. As Cloak Fighters always travel light,
they often donate excess funds to needy charities.
Races:
Though Cloak Fighters can be of any race, it is more of a tradition passed down from
generation to generation (usually human). It would be highly unusual for a dwarf or
halfling do try to master these skills, but with the right motivation.. not impossible.
