Despite that the Jenzig can be heard to say, "Looks like a solid plan to me!" He turns and speedily follows with his backpack in one hand and his staff in the other. Caledon holds his shield overhead to protect both himself and Shameron as they beat their own hasty departure.
Unfortunately, Farlont's macho zun ego refuses to allow him to run, so he walks out of the area. Even his ego can't stop him from crying out in pain as he is struck by still more nuts. "Ow! Ow! Those things are starting to sting! I think there is some kind of flesh burning acid on these things! It takes a lot to get through my thick skin."
"...and skull.." Caledon is heard to mutter.
A glint of moonlight catches Farlont's attention. "Hey! There is something over there!" He stops and squints into the murky woods. "It looks like something metal grown over with weeds. Whatever it is, it ain't alive, it isn't giving off any heat. Although, undead down have much heat either."
"Crap! I think we left in such a rush that we must have left some of our camp supplies behind!" Says Varlus slightly out of breath. "We don't have much to be leaving things behind."
The tree's umbrella is monstrous in size, but it still doesn't take long to get out from within its attack. The party rests for a moment and ponders what to do next. Heavy breathing can be heard to drown out the normal forest sounds.
"That stupid tree can't have an inexhaustable supply of acorns. I should know, we had a oak right outside the chantry. When you were late for lectures, you had to rake leaves and nuts and such out front. I bet with a quill and parchment, I could calculate the exact number of acorns that thing grew in a season," says Kiranyan as he wipes the sweat from his brow. "I seem to recall becoming a Jenzig so I wouldn't have to do all this physical stuff."
"Should we go back for our things and to investigate what Farlont saw, or just write off the stuff? I'm not exactly sure of my position on this, but many of us have sustained wounds and our regenerative resources are running low. I would hate to see us start tapping into potions, with this being the first day and all." Shaizan stands with a slight groan. He turns and points back to the tree, "On the other hand, I am already beginning to see that this is a very dangerous place and I am not sure I want to leave too many unknowns behind me."
Varlus suggests, "Should we vote on it?"
Pheylan
Pheylan drops to his knees as soon as the party has cleared
the tree's cover, gasping for breath. After catching his breath, he turns to
Varlus...
"Varlus, you mentioned that you believed we left some supplies behind? Do you know what we left behind?"
[DM - I will check my possessions quickly... did I leave anything behind?]
"As far as going back for the supplies, it all depends on what we left and how important it is. However, if we did leave something important behind, since I am still unscathed, I will volunteer to go if I may borrow Caledon's shield."
Pheylan then attempts to ascertain the nature of the wounds received from the acorns, in an attempt to determine exactly how badly everyone is hurt. While he does this he continues to speak...
"If we didn't leave anything critical behind, I personally would vote to leave the tree behind and see if we can camp here for the rest of the evening. I, for one, am very tired still..."
Grinning slightly, he looks around the party before speaking again...
"I'm getting too old for this crap..."
Varlus
"Pheylan, I didn't leave anything behind that I know
of. Based on what Farlont said and the speed that we fled the are, I assumed that
must have left some of our stuff behind."
[Besides, I didn't notice anyone saying, "I grab all my stuff and flee." just "I flee.".]
I look back at the rest area. I squint to try to see if I can see what Farlont saw.
"Who knows what could be back there? If those acorns only digest flesh, there could be some good stuff overgrown in that area. I think that maybe we should consider how we can go back and safely check stuff out."
Feeling guilty for not being able to provide anymore help tonight, "But, there is no reason why we can't rest the remainder of the night here and check it out in the daylight. We should be much better off to cope with things then."
Farlont
"Hey now, stuff don't grow on trees!" I scratch my
head. "OK, let's try that another way... You don't find stuff just laying
there on the ground everyday. Err..." I scratch my head a bit harder.
"My point is this... I think we should go check it out. I am not greedy
or anything," I laugh, "not much anyways."
I run my fingers over the burns that the acorns left on my skin. I mutter to myself, "I hate freaks of nature."
Shameron
Shameron spends a few moments catching her breath. She checks
herself for cuts, abrasions, etc.
"I agree with Varlus. Maybe we should all try and get some rest before we head back to look for any possesions we may have left behind."
I offer to cast Heal light wounds" on whoever needs it.
Shameron tries her best not to laugh at Pheylan's statement about "Getting too old for this crap... I think it will be a few years before you need to start using a cane my friend, " she says somewhat sarcastically to Pheylan. "But of course if you need someone to lean on....well I'm sure Farlont could throw you over his shoulders and carry you". She quickly backs away to avoid the daggers that will be thrown her way from Pheylan's eyes.
Kendervon
"I think Shameron is right. We need to go back and
investigate. But we should rest and tend to our wounds first."
"You must all enjoy this we get a welcome committee and an acid accorn shower. I wonder if we will ever get a real nights sleep. This seems like it definately going to be a good challenge."
